Case Study
Large forged steel backup rolls finished and inspected
A backup roll carries the rolling load, so its dimensions and surface quality decide how steadily the line runs. This batch was delivered on the strength of in-house control from forged blank to final inspection.

Several large backup rolls pass factory inspection
Several large forged steel backup rolls machined in-house by Luoyang Linyao Machinery have completed all finishing operations in the heavy-duty workshop and passed factory inspection. The batch is now being prepared for shipment to the customer's project site. The roll bodies show an even metallic finish, and the transition fillets between body and journals are fully machined.
Backup rolls are core components of metallurgical rolling lines. They run under high load and heavy wear, so mechanical properties, surface accuracy and running stability are tightly specified. This batch was built to the customer's actual operating parameters and belongs to the heavy-tonnage, non-standard roll category.
From forged blank to finish turning, all in-house
The technical team selected high-quality alloy steel forging stock, formed the blank by open-die forging, and then applied overall quenching and tempering so that hardness is distributed evenly along the body and the mechanical properties meet service requirements.
In finishing, heavy CNC equipment turns the body and journals to hold form and position tolerances and surface roughness. Dimensions are re-checked between operations, which keeps accumulated error on very large parts under control.
Quality control across the whole production cycle
From incoming ultrasonic testing of raw material and parameter control during forging to performance testing after heat treatment and full dimensional verification of the finished part, every operation has its own quality standard and traceability record.
With large lifting equipment and heavy CNC machines in the workshop, Linyao Machinery takes on custom non-standard shafts, rolls and shells in the tens-of-tonnes range for metallurgy, mining, building materials, and lifting and transport equipment.
