Heavy-Duty Large-Modulus Spur Gear with Keyed Bore

A heavy-duty straight spur gear with a large module, wide face, keyed bore, and end-face lubrication and disassembly holes. It is designed for low-speed, high-torque industrial drives.

Cylindrical spur gear with external straight teeth, a large keyed bore, thick rim, and small end-face holes.

Large-Module Straight-Tooth Design

This part is a large-module, wide-face straight spur gear. The large tooth contact area supports high torque and shock loads, while straight teeth produce no axial thrust, keeping bearing axial loads low and simplifying assembly and maintenance.

Gear cutting covers outside diameters up to Ø10 000 mm and modules up to M60, in straight, helical, herringbone, and internal tooth forms. Teeth are precision cut and hardened for wear resistance.

Keyed Bore and End-Face Holes

The central bore is a precision fit with a keyway, locating the gear on the shaft and transmitting torque through the key. Small holes on the end face serve as lubrication and disassembly ports: they allow lubricant to reach the bore and shaft fit and can be used with jack screws to help remove the gear from the shaft.

Bore diameter, keyway width and depth, hole positions, and fit class are machined to the drawing. Because these features are project-specific, they are confirmed at order review rather than assumed from the photo.

Materials, Heat Treatment, and Inspection

Typical blanks are forged 42CrMo or 35CrMo alloy structural steel. The process includes quench-and-temper pre-treatment, precision tooth cutting, and tooth-surface induction hardening, balancing core toughness with surface hardness for alternating and impact loads.

Induction hardening is available up to Ø10 000 mm. In-house inspection covers pitch, runout, hardness, and ultrasonic testing; dimensional and form checks are performed to the drawing. Typical lead time for this gear type is within 90 days.

Heavy Industrial Applications and Custom Options

These gears are commonly used in heavy-duty industrial reducers, mine hoists, metallurgical mill main drives, large crushers, and lifting and transport machinery, where they serve as the driven gear to reduce speed and increase torque.

Customization covers outside diameter, face width, bore and keyway, tooth profile, material, and heat treatment. Blanks can be supplied as castings, forgings, or rolled rings; other common gear materials include 45# and ZG270-500. Please provide a drawing or the required module, tooth count, pressure angle, accuracy grade, and hardness for quotation.

Common questions

Can you machine this part to my drawing?
Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
How are the material and heat treatment decided?
They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
What lead time and inspection come with the part?
Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
How is the part packed for export?
Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.

Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
