Large Multi-Spline Stepped Transmission Shaft

Large multi-spline stepped transmission shaft for heavy-duty drives, supporting transmission parts and transmitting high torque; splines center and fix the shaft circumferentially. Made to drawings.

Two long stepped shafts with multiple diameters, fine external splines and center holes at the ends; solid shaft.

Structure and machining scope

The part is a stepped shaft with several journals of different diameters and external spline sections. The journals mount bearings and bushings for radial support and axial location; the external splines mate with internal-spline gears, hubs or couplings for circumferential fixing and torque transmission. As a machining capability, shaft length can reach 10 000 mm including clamping, maximum diameter Ø1 500 mm, and single-piece weight up to 8 t.

Materials and heat treatment

For heavy-duty conditions, alloy structural steels such as 40Cr and 42CrMo are used, usually with forged blanks, quenching and tempering, and spline tooth-surface hardening. Machining capability covers journal tolerance h6/IT7, surface roughness Ra 0.8 and radial runout ≤0.02 mm; keyways, splines, threads and end-face flange holes can also be machined.

Quality control and customization

Center holes at both ends serve as lathe and grinding datums and can also be used for assembly and inspection. Dimensions, form and position, and UT/MT are inspected in-house as required. Spline type, module, tooth count, accuracy grade, material and heat-treatment parameters are confirmed against drawings and operating conditions; typical lead time is 60 days.

Common questions

Can you machine this part to my drawing?
Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
How are the material and heat treatment decided?
They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
What lead time and inspection come with the part?
Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
How is the part packed for export?
Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.

Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
