Hardened Helical Gear Shaft

One-piece helical gear shaft with ground, induction-hardened tooth flanks, used as a medium- to high-speed input gear in reducers and industrial gearboxes.

One-piece helical gear shaft with a toothed section, stepped journals, a threaded section and a center hole in the end face.

Integral Gear-Shaft Construction

The helical teeth are cut directly into the shaft body, eliminating a fitted-gear interface; stepped journals at both ends support bearing mounting, and the center hole in the shaft end is used as a machining and inspection datum. For gear machining, external diameters up to Ø10 000 mm and modules up to M60 can be covered, with straight, helical, herringbone and internal tooth forms available.

Hardened Tooth Flanks for Input Duty

Helical cylindrical teeth raise the contact ratio compared with spur teeth, supporting smoother transmission, lower noise and higher load capacity in medium- and high-speed input stages. Typical 20CrMnTi or 42CrMo alloy-steel forgings are carburized and quenched, or tempered and then induction-hardened on the tooth flanks, balancing core toughness with surface hardness.

Inspection and Customization

Tooth pitch, runout, hardness and ultrasonic inspection are carried out in-house; module, tooth count, helix angle, pressure angle, accuracy grade and shaft dimensions are confirmed against drawings before production. Blanks, heat-treatment routes and journal or thread details can be adapted to the application, with gear machining lead times typically within 90 days.

Common questions

Can you machine this part to my drawing?
Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
How are the material and heat treatment decided?
They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
What lead time and inspection come with the part?
Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
How is the part packed for export?
Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.

Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
