Heavy-Duty Wire Rope Sheave for Cranes and Excavators

Custom sheaves machined from forged C45 or 42CrMo, or cast ZG310-570 steel, with a precision rope groove and optional hardening.

Red heavy-duty wire rope sheave with a machined groove around the rim, spoked steel web and central hub

The Groove Decides Rope Life

A sheave carries the full load of the lifting system and guides the wire rope at the same time. If the groove is undersized, rough or worn, the rope flattens, rubs and fails early, and the whole lifting point becomes unsafe.

Every sheave we machine gets a groove profile cut to match the rope diameter you specify, so the rope seats evenly, friction on both rope and sheave drops, and the load spreads over the full arc of contact instead of a few contact points.

Forged or Cast, Then Machined on CNC Lathes

Material is chosen per application: forged steel such as C45 or 42CrMo where strength and fatigue resistance matter, cast steel such as ZG310-570 for complex shapes and general heavy-duty use. Blanks are turned, the groove is profiled on CNC lathes, and the bore, hub faces and mounting holes are machined in the same process chain.

For high-wear duty the rope groove can be induction or flame hardened to roughly 50 HRC while the core stays tough, so the surface resists wear without becoming brittle.

Single Sheave or Ready-to-Install Assembly

We supply the sheave on its own or as a complete assembly with bearings, bronze bushings, pins and seals, ready to mount. Typical use: mobile cranes, overhead and gantry cranes, tower cranes, mining excavators and shovels, draglines, port and offshore cranes, hoisting and winch systems.

Send the drawing or the key dimensions — outside diameter, rope diameter, bore size and material — and we quote against that, as an OEM replacement or a new custom part.

Common questions

Can you machine this part to my drawing?
Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
How are the material and heat treatment decided?
They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
What lead time and inspection come with the part?
Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
How is the part packed for export?
Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.

Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
