Gears & PinionsRing gears
Large Helical Ring Gear for Industrial Gearboxes
Thin-disc helical ring gear, also supplied as a split driven ring, that meshes with the pinion in parallel-shaft and industrial gearboxes to reduce speed and raise torque.

Helical tooth design and grinding
The teeth are cut as helical cylindrical teeth, so the mesh has a higher contact ratio than a spur design: transmission runs smoother, noise is lower and load capacity is higher, which suits medium-to-high speed, high-torque duty. Teeth are precision ground, giving a hard tooth surface, good profile accuracy and surface finish, and longer wear life than a soft-tooth gear.
Gear capacity covers outside diameters up to Ø10 000 mm and modules up to M60, with straight, helical, herringbone and internal tooth forms. Blanks can be supplied as castings, forgings or rolled rings, and the tooth surface can be hardened within the same maximum diameter.
Thin-disc and split construction
The body is a thin disc with a precision-machined bore, normally shrink-fitted onto a hub or drive shaft. Compared with a solid gear body this saves alloy steel, allows the worn ring to be replaced on its own to cut maintenance cost, and shortens the axial build-up inside the gearbox.
Material, heat treatment and inspection
Rings are usually made from 20CrMnTi or 42CrMo alloy steel forgings, then carburized and quenched or induction hardened on the tooth surface; the surface reaches a high hardness for wear resistance while the core keeps toughness for repeated impact loads. Quenching and tempering are also available.
Tooth pitch, runout, hardness and ultrasonic testing are checked in-house, with dimensional and form checks as required. Typical lead time is within 90 days.

Common questions
- Can you machine this part to my drawing?
- Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
- How are the material and heat treatment decided?
- They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
- What lead time and inspection come with the part?
- Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
- How is the part packed for export?
- Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.
Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
