Split Bull Gear for Sugar Mill Cane Crusher
Split bull gear for the final drive of a cane crusher, cast in ZG45 or ZG310-570 steel, machined to OEM drawings or reverse-engineered from a worn gear so it fits the existing pinion.

Split design for on-site installation
A bull gear on a milling tandem is large and heavy enough that a solid ring is often impossible to handle in place. We build it as a two-piece split gear: both halves are machined as a matched pair, then dowelled and bolted so the gear can be assembled around the existing mill shaft without stripping the drive train.
Compared with a solid ring gear this shortens installation time and labor, which makes a replacement realistic inside a short shutdown window between harvest seasons.
Tooth cutting, heat treatment and inspection
Teeth are cut on large CNC hobbing and milling machines. As a shop capability limit we machine external gears up to Ø10 000 mm and modules up to M60, in straight, helical, herringbone and internal tooth forms; tooth pitch, runout and hardness are checked on every gear before shipment, with ultrasonic testing on request.
Gears can be supplied normalized and stress-relieved, quenched and tempered, or with induction-hardened tooth flanks; the largest hardening diameter we handle is 10 000 mm. Blanks can be castings, forgings or rolled rings, and typical lead time is within 90 days.
Custom manufacture and reverse engineering
We work from OEM drawings, or from a worn or broken gear: the part is measured, the tooth data reconstructed and a replacement machined to mesh with the pinion already on the mill. Besides the ZG45 and ZG310-570 cast steels usual for sugar mills, 45#, 42CrMo and ZG270-500 are also available.

Common questions
- Can you machine this part to my drawing?
- Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
- How are the material and heat treatment decided?
- They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
- What lead time and inspection come with the part?
- Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
- How is the part packed for export?
- Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.
Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
