Hollow Output Gear Shaft with Side Mounting Lugs
A forged, hollow stepped output gear shaft with a pinion at the shaft end, a flange face with bolt holes and an integrated side mounting lug for heavy reversing drives.

Hollow Shaft and Mounting Interface
The body is a through-bored stepped shaft with an internal locating shoulder, so it can be mounted directly on a load shaft to save axial space or used to route piping and internal locking mechanisms. The outer diameters are ground as bearing fits with a locating shoulder for heavy bearings, giving radial support and axial positioning that keep the gear mesh accurate.
The large flange at the left end carries evenly spaced bolt holes for output flanges, connecting plates and work tables. The side mounting lug is formed in one piece with the shaft and has locating bores for pivot support, limit stops or a swing arm linkage, which suits oscillating and rotary indexing duty.
Machining and Heat Treatment
Blanks are forged, then quenched and tempered to build strength and toughness before finish machining. Mating surfaces and gear teeth are precision machined, with hardening on the tooth flanks where wear resistance is required, so the part can carry heavy loads and alternating impact.
Gear capacity covers outside diameters up to Ø8 000 mm and modules up to M60, with straight, helical, herringbone and internal teeth. Hobbing, shaping and grinding are followed by in-house checks of pitch, runout and hardness, plus ultrasonic inspection when specified.
Applications and Customization
This type of shaft is commonly used in planetary reducers, swing drive units, engineering machinery linkages, automated indexing tables and metallurgical drive trains, especially where a hollow shaft and a side mounting or pivot point are needed in a heavy-duty layout.
Bores, flange bolt patterns, lug bore positions, tooth data, material grade and heat treatment are all made to drawing. Typical lead time is within 8–12 weeks, and the customer can choose cast, forged or rolled ring blanks for the gear body.

Common questions
- Can you machine this part to my drawing?
- Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
- How are the material and heat treatment decided?
- They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
- What lead time and inspection come with the part?
- Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
- How is the part packed for export?
- Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.
Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
