Gears & PinionsInternal gears
Internal Ring Gear
Internal ring gear machined to drawing from a 42CrMo forging blank. Internal teeth are cut by hobbing, the end face can be drilled, and the part is quenched and tempered with optional tooth-surface hardening. Used in planetary reducers and other low-speed, heavy-duty drives.

Hobbing of Large-Diameter Internal Ring Gears
Internal teeth are hobbed on a ring blank that has undergone normalizing and rough turning. Tooth profile can be straight, helical or herringbone. Maximum machinable outer diameter is Ø10 000 mm, maximum module M60.
Bolt holes, keyways, oil grooves and chamfers are completed after hobbing. The delivered item is a finished ring gear, not a semi-finished blank.
Applicable Conditions
These internal ring gears are used in planetary reducers, mill drives, rotary kilns and mixer drives, and other low-speed, high-torque components. Common materials are 45#, 42CrMo, ZG270-500; blanks can be castings, forgings or rolled rings.
Inspection and Lead Time
Pitch, runout, hardness and ultrasonic testing are all completed in our own workshop. Results are recorded together with the drawing before shipment.
Quenching and tempering and tooth surface high-frequency hardening can be arranged together, maximum hardening diameter 10 000 mm. Typical lead time for such ring gears is within 90 days, depending on size and quantity.

Common questions
- Can you machine this part to my drawing?
- Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
- How are the material and heat treatment decided?
- They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
- What lead time and inspection come with the part?
- Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
- How is the part packed for export?
- Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.
Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
