Heavy-Duty Cast Multi-Groove V-Belt Pulley
A cast pulley with multiple parallel V-grooves on a ribbed, lightened web. It drives belts on crushers, ball mills, fans, pumps and conveyors.

Structure and machining
The pulley is a one-piece casting: a ribbed web with lightening holes carries the rim, so on large diameters weight and inertia stay low while stiffness is kept. The centre bore is machined as the fitting datum for the shaft and is cut with a keyway to transmit torque.
Grooves are turned in a single set-up against the bore, and the groove faces are left as machined metal so the belt seats accurately and slip is reduced. The rest of the body is painted; bore, keyway and groove faces keep their machined finish.
Service conditions
Multi-groove V-belt drives run between a motor and the driven machine where the centres are far apart and some mounting deviation has to be absorbed. The parallel grooves share the load across several belts, so each belt carries less and the drive takes higher power and torque.
Typical duty is on crushers, ball mills, fans, water pumps and belt conveyors. Friction drive gives a degree of overload protection: a jammed machine makes the belt slip instead of damaging the shaft, and the belt also damps shock and vibration.
Quality control and customization
Bore and keyway are checked against the drawing, the groove profile is gauged, and the finished pulley is measured for radial and face runout on the groove faces. Castings are inspected before machining so that porosity and shrinkage are caught early.
We make pulleys to drawing or to a sample: groove profile and number of grooves, outside diameter, bore and keyway size, web pattern and paint colour are all set by the customer. Balancing, non-standard hubs and split or bolted designs can be quoted on request.

Common questions
- Can you machine this part to my drawing?
- Yes. Every part is quoted from the drawing. Send a PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP or IGES file with the material, quantity and any inspection requirements, and we reply within one working day.
- How are the material and heat treatment decided?
- They follow your drawing. The specification table shows the range normally used for this part type; the final material and heat treatment are confirmed with the quotation.
- What lead time and inspection come with the part?
- Lead time is set in the quotation and depends on material, size, quantity and inspection scope. Material verification, in-process checks and final inspection records are archived with the part, and any extra certification is agreed before production.
- How is the part packed for export?
- Export parts are rust-proofed and packed for the transport method and destination confirmed in the quotation, with lifting points and markings agreed before dispatch.
Every part is quoted from the drawing itself, not from a size band. Send it over and we answer with the process, the lead time and the tolerance we can hold.
